Women’s Euro Cup: Trieste draws Hungary’s Keruleti Tve in quarterfinals

First leg set for Saturday, November 16, at the "Bruno Bianchi" pool, with the return match on November 30 in Budapest. Head Coach Paolo Zizza: “We know our opponents well; they are a quality team.”

European Aquatics has completed the draw for the Women’s Euro Cup quarterfinals. Pallanuoto Trieste, fresh off securing the top spot in Group C of Preliminary Round II held at the "Bruno Bianchi" pool, will face Hungary’s Keruleti Tve, a team the Orchette encountered less than a month ago in the Champions League. Sponsored by Samer & Co. Shipping, Trieste will play the first leg at home on Saturday, November 16, with the return match scheduled for Saturday, November 30, in Budapest. Match times are yet to be confirmed.

The other quarterfinal pairings have also been set. Tenerife Echeyde will face Cn Catalunya in an all-Spanish "derby," with the winner going on to meet the victor of Pallanuoto Trieste vs. Keruleti Tve in the semifinals. On the other side of the bracket, Greece will host two matchups: Ethnikos vs. Glyfada and Panionios vs. the Netherlands’ De Zaan.

“At this stage of the competition, there are no easy opponents,” said Head Coach Paolo Zizza. “We know Keruleti well; they have strong individual talent and plenty of quality across the board. This will be an extremely competitive quarterfinal, with both legs likely to be intense. Home advantage can be crucial in matches like these, so I hope our fans will come out to support us. In Hungary, we’re sure to encounter a very enthusiastic crowd.”
