Transfer coup: Pallanuoto Trieste signs Luca Marziali. National team center-forward joins the Alabardati

"High ambitions here; we'll try to go as far as possible," says Marziali. Coach Daniele Bettini: "A modern, versatile player, a true professional." Andrea Brazzatti, Director of Sports: "An internationally experienced athlete familiar with European water polo"

Pallanuoto Trieste has secured the services of the Italian national team's center-forward. In preparation for the 2023/2024 Men's A1 Water Polo season, the team sponsored by Samer & Co. Shipping has signed Luca Marziali to a three-year contract. Born in Fermo in 1991, Marziali has had a career playing for various clubs, including Sori, Nervi, Bogliasco, Acquachiara, Posillipo, Telimar Palermo, and most recently, Spandau Berlin during the 2022/2023 season. With the German club, he played in the Champions League and won the German championship and Supercup. Over the course of his career, he has played in two Euro Cup finals, in 2015 with Acquachiara and in 2022 with Telimar Palermo, both of which his teams narrowly lost. Marziali is also a key player in the Italian national team, helping secure gold in the World League and silver at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest.

"I approach this new adventure with great enthusiasm," says Luca. "I can't wait to get started. Pallanuoto Trieste has high ambitions, and I'm motivated to do well. I already know some of my new teammates, so I don't think I'll have any problems fitting in. As for goals, I want to go as far as possible in all three competitions, and reaching a final would be the ultimate achievement. Personally, I'd like to stay in the national team until 2024 with an eye on the Olympics."

Coach Daniele Bettini is responsible for integrating the new Alabardati addition from a technical standpoint: "I'm very pleased with Luca's arrival. We're talking about a modern center-forward, agile, skilled in outside shooting and defense, and dangerous at the post during extra-man situations. He's a true professional, and I'm confident he will quickly endear himself to our fans."

"Luca is an internationally experienced athlete," says Director of Sports Andrea Brazzatti. "He's an expert who knows European water polo well and will add depth to our team. He will integrate easily into our group".
