Stevens from Trieste heading to the Fukuoka World Championships. Ylenia Rummolo ready for the Regional Debutants A Trophy

The Slovenian national has been training at 'Bianchi' since March. The 2011-born backstroker is gearing up for the Scanzano Jonico races on June 24th and 25th and will compete in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events

Two athletes from the Absolute Swimming team of Pallanuoto Trieste are approaching the most important events of the season. Peter John Stevens, a highly skilled breaststroke specialist in the 50 and 100 breaststroke and a member of the Slovenian national team, will participate in the Fukuoka Swimming World Championships in less than a month (scheduled from July 14th to 30th). Born in 1995 in Kranj, he has already won several medals at Junior World Championships, European Championships, and Mediterranean Games.

Since March, he has relocated to Trieste with the goal of preparing himself for the Japanese world championship and, most importantly, aiming straight for the 2024 Olympics. He is coached by Davide Rummolo for the swimming part and supervised in the gym by the Technical Director Stefania Pirozzi. "We are delighted that an athlete of Stevens' caliber has chosen Pallanuoto Trieste," explains Davide Rummolo. "After the World Championships, he has an even more prestigious goal, namely Paris 2024. He is eager to learn, and we are talking about a swimmer with significant room for improvement because he has never worked as well as he has since he arrived in Trieste. Having him in our lane is inspiring for our young talents."

There is also great anticipation for the upcoming races of Ylenia Rummolo, a promising breaststroke swimmer born in 2011. Ylenia has earned a call-up to the Regional Representative Team for the Debutants A Regions Trophy, scheduled to take place in Scanzano Jonico (Matera) on June 24th and 25th. Rummolo will compete in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. "This is a great satisfaction," says Federico Colino, the coach of the Debutants A team. "For her, it's an opportunity to grow and compete with the best prospects of her age at the national level." Davide Rummolo added, "Achieving results of this caliber was not taken for granted. She has matured a lot, especially in terms of her approach to training. We are all curious to see her in action in a highly competitive environment".
