Setterosa heads to the World Cup: four Pallanuoto Trieste players called to the National Team!

Lucrezia Cergol, Veronica Gant, Sara Cordovani, and Francesca Colletta will represent Italy in Division I, scheduled to take place in Alexandroupoli (Greece) from January 14 to 19

A Setterosa with the mark of Pallanuoto Trieste. Carlo Silipo, head coach of the Italian women’s national team, has announced the roster for the Division I stage of the World Cup, the team’s first appearance following the Paris Olympics. Among the players donning the Italian cap, four will come from the ranks of the Orchette: Lucrezia Cergol, captain of Pallanuoto Trieste’s women’s Serie A1 team; Veronica Gant; Sara Cordovani; and Francesca Colletta, who will make her official debut in the national team at this tournament.

The Setterosa will compete in Alexandroupoli (Greece) from January 14 to 19, facing two powerhouse teams—Australia and the Netherlands—as well as Israel. The opening match is set for January 14 against Israel, starting at 4:00 PM, with live streaming on RaiPlay and delayed broadcast on RaiSport (channel 58) at 6:55 PM. On January 15, also at 4:00 PM, the Setterosa will take on the Netherlands, with a live broadcast on RaiSport. The final group stage match in Group B will be on January 16 at 8:00 PM against Australia (live on RaiPlay, with a delayed broadcast on RaiSport at midnight).

The knockout phase begins on January 17, with the quarterfinals featuring cross-matchups against teams from Group A, which includes Hungary, the United States, Spain, and host nation Greece. The top six teams will advance to the Super Final, scheduled for April 11–13, with the venue yet to be announced.

The roster for the World Cup consists of 15 players, with Pallanuoto Trieste contributing the highest number of athletes (four), alongside Sis Roma.
