Pallanuoto Trieste qualifies for the Allievi championship finals!

Heart-pounding national semifinal group stage, with the decisive goal by Max Cernecca 5 seconds from the end in the match against Bogliasco

For the second consecutive year, Pallanuoto Trieste has qualified for the championship finals in the Allievi category. This is a remarkable achievement by the team coached by Alberto Petrucci, which has made it into the exclusive circle of the top eight teams in Italy after a heart-pounding national semifinal group stage. In the two-day event in Mompiano, anything and everything happened. Pallanuoto Trieste started off brilliantly, defeating RN Sori 16-10 with 10 goals equally shared between Alessandro Casavola and Federico Fumo. The match against the home team, Brescia Waterpolo, resulted in a narrow and somewhat undeserved loss (11-10 for the Lombards). The final decisive match against Bogliasco 1951 was a four-period battle. Trieste initially took a +2 lead (2-4), the Ligurians caught up and extended their lead with a 5-1 run in the second period (7-5). In the third period, Trieste equalized (7-7), setting the stage for a thrilling fourth period. In the last 2 minutes, Bogliasco saw qualification within reach twice, but Trieste equalized twice, first with Alessandro Casavola at 44 seconds from the end, then with Max Cernecca exactly 5 seconds before the buzzer: 10-10, Pallanuoto Trieste advances. From August 3 to 6 in Naples, the championship finals will feature Pallanuoto Trieste, Brescia Waterpolo, Pro Recco, Quinto Genova, Lazio Nuoto, CN Salerno, Roma Vis Nova, and Ortigia Academy.
