Pallanuoto Trieste introduces paralympic water polo team

Pallanuoto Trieste proudly announces the launch of its first-ever paralympic water polo team in Friuli Venezia Giulia. This groundbreaking initiative marks a significant milestone for the club as it prepares to compete in the 2024 Serie A championship. The unveiling took place at the welcoming Spazio H2O of the "Bruno Bianchi" swimming pool in Trieste, attended by numerous sports and institutional dignitaries.

With the inaugural match scheduled between April 6th and 7th, the team, under the guidance of head coach Daniele Bettini and assisted by Finp instructor Lara Vitali, has already commenced training. President Enrico Samer expressed immense pride in this new endeavor, emphasizing the club's commitment to excellence both in traditional and paralympic water polo.

Sergio Pasquali, President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Swimming Federation, extended best wishes to the team, echoing the region's longstanding admiration for Pallanuoto Trieste's achievements. Maria Elisabetta Capasa, Regional Delegate of the Italian Paralympic Swimming Federation, hailed the initiative for its inclusivity and synergy.

Guests, including regional sports authorities and municipal representatives, lauded the club's dedication to fostering sporting excellence. Mario Giugliano, head coach of the Italian paralympic water polo team, expressed honor in Trieste's historic affiliation with the sport.

The general manager of Pallanuoto Trieste, Andrea Brazzatti, is already focused on upcoming water engagements: 'We are considering, in accordance with the facility managers, the possibility of hosting a Serie A concentration at the Bianchi pool.” Lara Vitali, Finp instructor and assistant coach, highlighted the unique emotional resonance of paralympic water polo.

The event concluded with individual athlete introductions and customary photographs. Captain Savino Nino Mansi encapsulated the team spirit, expressing unwavering enthusiasm for the Pallanuoto Trieste's journey into paralympic waters.

The Serie A paralympic water polo season kicks off with the first concentration on April 6th-7th, followed by subsequent fixtures in May and June, culminating in the championship events in October and December.
