Pallanuoto Trieste has a new stricker. In preparation for the 2023/2024 Serie A1 men's league, the Samer & Co. Shipping-sponsored club has signed Marin Dasic to an annual contract. Born in Zagreb in 1998, he grew up in the youth sector of Mladost, one of the most prestigious water polo clubs in Croatia, with which he won a national league, two national cups, and played in a Euro Cup final. In 2016, he moved to the United States to attend the University of Southern California (USC), where he won the NCAA championship in 2018. He returned to Mladost in 2019, staying until 2022, and in the last season, he played in France with Ent Lille Metropole. Between the Champions League and Euro Cup, he scored 40 goals in 26 appearances. Now, he embarks on a new adventure with the Alabardati.
"As soon as Pallanuoto Trieste called me, I didn't hesitate for a moment to accept," Marin says. "I've heard great things about the club, and I have two friends here, Mislav Vrlic and Ivan Buljubasic. I'm really happy, and I can't wait to start competing in the Italian league. We can achieve great things. Thanks to the club for giving me this opportunity, and I'm eager to get to know all my new teammates and the staff."
"Marin is a complete athlete," analyzes coach Daniele Bettini. "He can play positions four and five, is strong defensively, has a great shot, and swimming speed. He's a hardworking individual with outstanding interpersonal skills, and we're confident he'll have no trouble fitting into the group. We expect a lot from him and believe he can make a difference in a top-tier team."
"Marin is still young," explains sporting director Andrea Brazzatti, "but already has good international experience. He is the type of player we were looking for, someone who can adapt to the dynamic style of water polo that our team plays. A warm welcome to Trieste!"
