On Thursday 12 February, in the sixth (final) round of the Men’s Euro Cup group stage (Group B), Pallanuoto Trieste will face Dinamo Bucharest away from home. The match will take place at the “Tolea Grintescu” swimming pool starting at 20:30; referees will be Maro Savinovic (Croatia) and Gernot Hanschel (Germany). Paid live streaming will be available on European Aquatics TV, while real-time play-by-play will be provided by the Microplustiming service.
The Samer & Co. Shipping-sponsored team approaches the trip to Romania with a relaxed mindset. As far as qualification for the round of 16 is concerned, the verdict is already decided, with CN Barcelona and Szolnok already through to the next stage. Nevertheless, the “alabardati” are determined to end their European adventure in the best possible way. “Even if the result will not change the standings,” explains head coach Maurizio Mirarchi, “we will give our maximum effort in the water. We want to earn the three points and deliver a positive performance that will help us for the remainder of the Italian league season.”
Andrei Mateiasi’s Dinamo are still on zero points in Group B, but in front of their home crowd they pushed Szolnok to the limit (15–16 for the Hungarians). From a technical standpoint there are two particularly dangerous players, attackers Andrei Prioteasa and Matei Ioan Lutescu, who have scored 18 and 12 goals in the competition respectively. At center-forward, keep an eye on the experience of veteran Cosmin Radu.
The teams have already met once this season, on 13 November at the “Bruno Bianchi”, when Pallanuoto Trieste edged it 17–16.
