Goalkeeper Enrico Caruso at Pallanuoto Trieste: "Proud to be here, we can go far"

Born in 1994, he played with Posillipo, Ortigia Siracusa and Nuoto Catania. Bettini: "Experienced, motivated and determined athlete."

Third new addition for Pallanuoto Trieste. In preparation for the 2023/2024 Serie A1 men's league, the Samer & Co. Shipping-sponsored club has signed goalkeeper Enrico Caruso to a two-year contract. Born in Cosenza in 1994 and developed in the youth sector of a Calabrian club, Caruso joined Posillipo in 2014/2015 and immediately won the Euro Cup in an all-Italian final against Acquachiara (where Giuseppe Valentino and Luca Marziali played). In the 2016/2017 season, he moved to Ortigia Siracusa and remained there for four years. In 2020, he transferred to Nuoto Catania and served as the first-choice goalkeeper for the Sicilian club until the recent playoff semifinal victory against Anzio Waterpolis, where he played a leading role with crucial saves.

"I'm proud of Pallanuoto Trieste's call," Enrico says. "We're talking about one of the strongest teams in the league, and I dive into this adventure with great enthusiasm. We have the right cards to go far in all competitions. I know Giuseppe and Luca from our time in Naples, and I've often faced my other new teammates as opponents. I know and respect the coach; I'm convinced he will help me further develop."

Coach Daniele Bettini analyzes Caruso's experience in the league: "He has gained a lot of experience in our league. From his initial words, he seems highly motivated and determined. I'm sure he will give his best to challenge my choice of who to field in goal. After all, in water polo, the goalkeeper's role is the most complicated. His addition will allow us to raise the level in training and matches across all three competitions."
