The 2023/2024 Women's Serie A1 Water Polo Championship kicks off. In the match valid for the first day, Pallanuoto Trieste hosts Como Nuoto at the "Bruno Bianchi" pool. The team sponsored by Samer & Co. Shipping comes into this match in good form and high spirits after their strong performances in the Champions League preliminary round. Having overcome the challenges in France and a few seasonal ailments, Paolo Zizza will be able to field the strongest possible lineup. It's a home debut for new additions Giusy Citino, Sara Cordovani, and Arianna Gragnolati, who have already made their mark in the Mulhouse games. Wearing cap number 14 is the 2006-born Anna Zoch. "We've been working hard in training," explains the coach, "with important matches ahead of us. We need to learn how to manage our energy wisely. We're excited about this first home game, but we must be cautious because Como is a team that can pose challenges. I expect a mental improvement from the girls; in the past, we've let points slip against beatable opponents, a mistake we can't afford if we want to aim for the top spots in the standings. So, no lapses in concentration."

Como Nuoto arrives at the "Bruno Bianchi" pool after their brilliant survival in the previous season. The squad remains largely unchanged under the guidance of coach Andrea Pisano, with two summer additions: starting goalkeeper Carolina Giacon, recruited from Plebiscito Padova, and forward Veronica Martella (formerly with Vela Ancona). The strengths of the pink frogs continue to be defender Bianca Romanò, left-handers Elena Borg and Alessia Iannarelli, and the center-back pair consisting of veteran Maria Romanò and Jamila Tedesco.
