On Saturday, December 9, in the sixth round of the group stage of the Men's Euro Cup, Pallanuoto Trieste hosts Panionios. The match takes place at "Bruno Bianchi" starting at 6:30 PM, with free admission. Live streaming on the Len European Aquatics YouTube channel, and real-time play-by-play is provided by Microplustiming. The match referees are Gabor Vogel (Hungary) and Levan Berishvili (Georgia).

The final home fixture in 2023 for the Samer & Co. Shipping-sponsored team coincides with the last effort of a European campaign that hasn't been as successful as the previous season. There's nothing decisive at stake against Panionios; the Alabardati can no longer secure qualification, while the Athenians have already secured a spot in the Round of 16. In any case, Daniele Bettini's boys intend to close Group D with a victory. "The motivation to perform well is there," explains the coach. "Firstly, because we want to build on the two recent positive results, and secondly, because we want to prove that we are worth more than what we have shown so far in the cup. We face a high-level team with several top-tier individuals, and a challenging task awaits us. But we play at home, and the goal is to bring satisfaction to our fans. Tactically, we'll need to be very careful as they focus a lot on one-on-one situations and prefer a game of speed and spontaneous shots. It could result in an entertaining and goal-rich encounter, much like the first leg." Regarding the lineup, no issues for Bettini; compared to the thirteen who beat Ortigia away a couple of weeks ago, center-back Luca Marziali returns after serving an international suspension.

The team coached by Kostantinos Dimou has carved out a leading role both in the Greek top league and in Europe. In their home country, Panionios sits in second place in Group B behind Vouliagmeni (in Group A, Olympiacos and Apollon Smyrni lead), while in the Euro Cup, they've only lost once (away to Ortigia) and firmly top Group D. With a roster boasting widespread quality, notable players include the strong Greek national team attacker Alex Gounas, the powerful center-back Kostantinos Mourikis, and the two Montenegrins Nikola Moskov and Aleska Ukropina.
